Feeding Students and Fueling Education

  • Mission

Our mission is for all children of Ҵý Public Ҵýs to be in optimal health.  Our vision is for all students and staff of Ҵý Public Ҵýs to have access to fresh, flavorful, and nutritious meals daily while promoting local sustainability. Ҵý Public Ҵýs participates in the National Ҵý Lunch Program and the National Ҵý Breakfast Program.

    National Ҵý Lunch Program

The (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National Ҵý Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.

    National Ҵý Breakfast Program

The (SBP) provides reimbursements to states to operate nonprofit breakfast programs in schools and residential childcare institutions. Ҵý districts and independent schools that choose to participate in the Program must serve breakfast meals meeting Federal nutrition requirements, and offer free or reduced price breakfast to all eligible students.

    Smart Snacks in Ҵý

Smart Snacks in Ҵýs Nutrition Standards is the final rule on nutrition standards for all foods sold in schools, other than food sold under the lunch and breakfast program.

Nutrition Services also offers many locally grown foods in the fall and spring.  Watermelons, cantaloupe, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, summer squashes, apples, pears, and winter squashes can be found on our garden bars during the growing season.
Due to Ҵý Public Ҵýs' participation in NSLP and SBP, we are able to offer Free Breakfast and Lunch to every student enrolled at many of our schools.  Some students do not qualify for free or reduced meals but are still in need of assistance.  Please click here if you would like to donate to our Lunch for Learners fund.
